The Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida, hit record levels for attendance and donations at it’s annual Celebrate the Children Dinner & Auction on Friday.
Tupperware, Walt Disney World and United Trophy each gave $25,000, the top amount. Red Lobster also participated for the first time as a separate company with a $12,000 donation, Cain said. The restaurant chain spun off from Darden Restaurants last summer.
The total for donations was about $900,000, up roughly $50,000 from last year, and the attendance hit about 1,200 at Marriott’s Orlando World Center.
“Our studies indicate that our services provide a return on investment of about $17 to $1,” Cain said. “A lot of that is because we are serving disadvantaged families, and parents tell us they are better able to maintain or increase their earnings because their children are getting help with day care, diet, recreation, etc.”
